National Science Foundation (STEM) Scholarships

STEM scholarships are available to qualified high school student and first time student.  This scholarship enables low-income, non-traditional or minority students to pursue an associate degree in manufacturing/engineering technology, information technology or pre-engineering programs.  This scholarship may be renewable for a second consecutive year of study based on academic performance.

High School Seniors & First Time Students
Current high school seniors are eligible for STEM scholarships at WKCTC if:

  1. A complete scholarship application is submitted.
  2. They are a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, refugee alien or permanent resident alien at the time of application.
  3. They plan to be enrolled fulltime at WKCTC.  Fulltime enrollment for STEM scholarships required completion of 30 credit hours each academic year.
  4. Demonstrate academic potential and/or ability based upon high school GPA and ACT score.
  5. Submit teacher recommendation(s). Form is available on the scholarship Web site.
  6. Submit a 500 word essay on goals and expectations of applicant’s chosen career.
  7. Submit a 2009 FAFSA confirmation.  FAFSA must demonstrate financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education eligibility rules for need-based federal financial aid.
