WKCTC Honors Faculty and Staff at Awards Reception

 

Faculty members Norman F. Wurgler of Almo and Deborah Swain of Ledbetter were recognized for excellence in teaching during a reception Friday at West Kentucky Community & Technical College.
 
The two faculty members were among five WKCTC employees recognized for their work at the college. “These five award recipients are people who demonstrate a love for their work, Tena Payne, Vice President for Academic Affairs said during the reception. “They do not come here every day for money or fame, but for the sheer joy of doing their work well – and it shows.”

Cosmetology Department Hosts Spa Nights
 

The Cosmetology Department has hosted two spa nights this semester. 

The spa night is a time that is set aside for the students to offer service to the outside public at a discounted rate. (more)

 
 
WKCTC Plans to Host Transfer Fair April 29
   
 

West Kentucky Community & Technical College hosted a Transfer Fair in the Anderson Technical Building in February.

The Transfer Fair offered students first-hand information from representatives of four-year colleges and universities about how to transfer to these institutions to pursue a baccalaureate degree.

Dr. Barbara Veazey presents gift certificates to Debbie Swain and Summer Holland recently selected faculty and staff members of the semester respectively.

Swain was selected by the Employee Recognition Committee from four faculty nominations.  She was nominated by a fellow faculty member who described her as an awesome instructor whose main goal is the success of her students.  She spends countless hours making sure that all of her work is completed in a timely manner and that the needs of her students are met. Debbie accomplishes all of this while at that the same time demonstrating unwavering professionalism. (more)

 

Madison Street House Project
The West Kentucky Community & Technical College Madison Street House project is close to completion.

Construction Technology Instructor John Moore said students have been working on the project for several semesters.

WKCTC Students Named to 2009 Who’s Who

More than forty West Kentucky Community & Technical College students have been named to the 2009 Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.

The Who's Who Among Students exists as one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs in the nation, having earned the overwhelming respect of college faculties and administrations. For the students - the outstanding campus leaders of the year - national recognition by the Who's Who program marks a pinnacle of scholastic achievement. (more)



Faculty and Staff Easter Egg Hunt
 
Nearly a 100 children searched for Easter eggs on the campus April 4. The brightly colored eggs spotted the ground between the buildings behind Carson Hall. The children found candy and lots of gifts in their eggs thanks to the members of Phi Theta Kappa. (more photographs)
