West Kentucky Community & Technical College recently announced the winners of the 2009 Writer’s Contest.

Students submitted original works in three categories. The winners were:

Poetry:
First Place:  "Words" by Thomas Peppers
Honorable Mention:  "The Coldest January" by Adam Edwards
Honorable Mention:  "Your Feet" by Thomas Peppers

Short Story:
First Place:  "The Tragedy of an Innocent Soul" by Abigail Tracy
Honorable Mention:  "Alone in Dublin" by Thomas Peppers
Honorable Mention:  "The Porcelain Witch" by Aaron Don Allen

Essay:
First Place:   "The Moral Status of Animals" by Stephanie Kaufman
Honorable Mention:  "For the Love of Scrapbooking and Children" by Barbie Shemwell
